The safety of Dermal Cheek Fillers
Possible side-effecs
Possible side effects include itching, tenderness, redness, and swelling (often marked the next morning but settles within hours).
Bruising can take a week to 10 days to resolve but can sometimes persist for longer.
Post Treatment Advice
Use a sunscreen product with a high SPF rating.
Heavy eyeglasses and sunglasses must be avoided for two weeks after the filler procedure.
Strenuous exercise, sun beds, sun exposure, steam rooms and saunas should be avoided for 2 weeks post treatment.
Tepid water should be used to cleanse the face for the first 48 hours following treatment. the area should be dried by gentle patting with a clean towel.
Hands should always be clean when touching the area treated, to avoid infection.
Am I suitable for this treatment?
Dermal filler treatment is not recommended:
- If you are suffering from any kind of skin infection in, around or near the treatment area.
- If you are feeling unwell in any way, even if it is a minor illness
- Injections around the lip area that can trigger cold sores viruses. Please inform us if you are a recurrent sufferer as we can prescribe lip anti-viral treatment such as Zovirax.
- If you have previously experienced allergic reactions to any dermal filler or local anaesthetic.
- If you are pregnant or you are breastfeeding.
- If you are taking any medicines which can affect bleeding, for example aspirin, steroids, warfarin or suffer autoimmune disease.
